Let's Talk: Liquid Eye Liners - ELF Eyeliner, WnW H20 Proof Liquid Eyeliner, NP Set On the Double Pen Liquid Eyeliner, Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner

To follow up with my comparison of cream/gel liners, I thought I'd do a comparison of liquid liners. Today I'll be comparing the ELF Liquid Eyeliner, the Wet N' Wild H20 Proof Liquid Eyeliner, the Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner, and the NP Set by Napoleon Perdis: On the Double Liquid Eyeliner Pen. Now for liquid liners, let's see out of the 4 ends up on top.

• Prices & Weight:
  
  - ELF Liquid Eyeliner - $1 for 0.169 oz./5 ml.
  - Wet N' Wild H20 Proof Liquid Eyeliner - $2-$4 for 0.17 oz./5 ml.
  - Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner $6-$8 for 0.08 oz./2.5 ml.
  - NP Set by Napoleon Perdis: On the Double Pen $?? for 0.20 oz./6 ml.*
  
  *For this item, it is a two sided cosmetic pen that has one side as a liquid liner and one side as a cream blush. Because of this I was unable to find the exact weight of each side specifically. Also, the price of this varies tremendously so I could not find a definite price. Thus I will be excluding this from this part of the comparison.
  

Out of the 3 I'll be comparing, ELF is by far the most bang for your buck at a whopping $1. With about the same amount of product you can get the Wet N' Wild liner but for double to quadruple the price. With half the amount of product, Revlon ColorStay comes as most expensive.

All 3 of these liners have firm pointed felt tip applicators but Revlon having the most flexible of the 3. The NP Liner has a thin brush applicator which I prefer overall.

• Pigmentation & Texture:

Out of the 4, the deepest black is the Wet N' Wild liner with the ELF one coming second. The NP was extremely sheer, thin, and watery. For the Revlon ColorStay you have to shake it in order to get a thick color. If you don't, you will get practically clear liquid. No thank you.

With the Wet N' Wild liner it took the longest to dry and even so, when dried, had a sticky shiny texture. With the Revlon liner, it was the most matte and dried to the most opaque. The NP was extremely disappointing because even before the Wet N' Wild liner dried, it started cracking against the wrinkles on my hand. The ELF liner had a satiny finish to it.

• Staying Power:
  
  Things to note:
  - The Wet N' Wild Liner is extremely waterproof and ridiculously hard to take off. It took me 3 days to get the last of it off without makeup remover which I cannot use because of my sensitive skin. It does take a while to dry so make sure to do some clean ups while it does dry, because when it dries, it will be stuck! Something important to know is that this liner is NOT for novice liquid eyeliner users.
  - The ELF one is rather watery so be careful with transferring as well. It's very streaky when applying on the eyes so have a lot of patience with this one.
  - The ELF and NP liners rub off VERY easily after a small amount of wear.

This is the result after wiping very hard with a Kleenex tissue. The one most effected was the ELF Liner. Overall though, these held up rather well with the force I was rubbing with.

This was after washing my hand with medium force with dishwasher soap and warm water. All the other 3 were pretty much all gone while the Wet N' Wild one stayed it's complete opacity.

• The Verdict:
  
  I want to say that the Wet N' Wild one is obviously the winner here but I can't completely agree with that. Of course it's staying power is out of this world but do some people really want something THAT waterproof? I was really annoyed with how difficult it was to take off and how difficult it was to apply since there is really no room for mistake with this product. I can't really say I have a favorite, I have always had transfer problems since my eyelids are rather oily. I will say this one is up in the air and I'll leave your opinions to yourselves. Whatcha think?!

Let's Talk: Cream/Gel Liners - ELF Cream Eyeliner, jane. Be Pure Mineral Gel Eyeliner, Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner

Hey guys, today I'm just going to be doing a quick comparison of 3 gel/cream liners that have become staples in my make-up collection. The liners I will be comparing today are the ELF Cream Eyeliner, the jane. Be Pure Mineral Gel Liner, and the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner. Out of the 3, which one comes on top? Let's see.

• Prices and weight:

- jane. Be Pure Mineral Gel Liner $4.79-$6.99 for 0.17 oz./5.0 g
- Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner $7.49 - $9.99 for 0.106 oz/3.0 g
- ELF Cream Eyeliner $3 for 0.17 oz./4.7 g (?)

One thing I have to mention is that supposedly the jane. liner and the ELF liner are the same weights, both claiming to be 0.17 oz but mentioning that in grams they are not the same. Looking at both liners, looking at every angle of each pot, I can easily say that the jane. liner DEFINITELY has more product in it, excluding the heavier glass container. Other than that, the Maybelline liner has the least amount of product in it for the highest price of the 3.

One thing to mention is that all these included a small brush, Maybelline having the biggest most versatile brush, jane. having a great quality small dense angled liner brush, and ELF having a medium TINY angled liner brush.

• The pigmentation & texture:

Pigmentation:

These are all in the black color range, the Maybelline liner being "Blackest Black", ELF being "Black", and the jane. liner being "Black" as well. Funny enough, I thought the Maybelline Liner was the least black of the two. I saw that the ELF liner has a brown undertone to it, the Maybelline liner being a lighter black and the jane. liner being the purest blackest of the 3.

Unfortunately, it doesn't show in the picture of the swatches I took.

Texture:

Out of the 3, the creamiest and easiest to use product was the ELF liner, which before it dried, had a wet sheen unlike the other 2 liners. The least creamy was the jane. liner which was a tad bit dried up in the pot but previously when I first bought it, it was always a little dry in texture. Maybelline fit in the middle as far as texture.

• Staying power:

All of these liners claim to be long lasting, and smudge proof. According to the companies, here are their claims:

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner: The liner is claimed to be an oil-free formula that holds highly concentrated pigments in a clear gel base and it is smudge-proof and waterproof for 24 hours.

My personal experience with this, this transferred onto my top lid like crazy. It just slid off once my lids got the slightest bit oily.

jane. Be Pure Mineral Gel Liner: This liner contains a unique hydrating formula loaded with minerals for a smooth long lasting water resistant coverage.

ELF Cream Eyeliner: The site claims that this is smudge-proof, budge-proof and water-resistant for all day wear to combat against sweat, tears or rain.

My personal experience with this, it came off extremely easily when I tried taking this off. I have read claims of it being difficult to take off but I just don't understand why. Maybe those with drier lids know.

Because of these claims, I decided to really test it out.

This is after rubbing extremely hard with a tissue. The Maybelline liner was the most affected whilst the jane. liner did not budge the slightest.

This was after rubbing extremely hard with hot water and dish soap. The jane. liner still holding up quite a bit, while the other 2 are basically gone.

• Verdict: As you can most likely see, the jane. Be Pure Mineral Gel Liner held up the most, not only in value, but in it's claims which were the least of the 3. I really am glad I made a comparison of the 3 because now I know to reach for this liner more often, since it has been neglected as of recently. Hooray!

Jordana Kohl Kajal Eyeliner + Swatches

I was having one of those days. You know, when you just don't want to deal with anything and you just feel sad. Maybe that's just me. Who knows. Anyway. I was in class one day and I just thought to myself "I really can't be here right now" (which is extremely rare for me) and so out of impulse I just stood up and walked out and went straight to my car and sat down and shut my eyes. What was I going to do now? I didn't feel like sitting at home doing nothing. I had my car, a wallet full of singles and the heat beating down on me. What came to mind? Retail therapy*.

*Honest to god, this does not happen to me often.

Now, let's zone in on one of the stores I came across during my little day to myself: Walgreens. All drugstores have sales at some point whether or not it's a small one in which you have to search through buckets of forever forgotten cosmetics or it's a blatant display of "COME BUY ME!!!" Welllll, Walgreens was having a display specifically for Jordana cosmetics and 90% of the cosmetics were on sale. One item being the Kohl Kajal Eyeliner:

The blue one especially is beautiful, right?

Beautiful colors right? Especially the blue one. What was more beautiful? The price at a whopping 50 cents each! Not being the original price but being 75% off I believe.

Now to review:

These liners are so creamy, SOO creamy. Both in a good and a bad way.

Pros:
-Extremely affordable, SUPER creamy, Beautiful color selection, Easy to Smudge/Blend out.

The black one does indeed stay super black all day!

Cons:

-Since these are so soft they don't have a very good staying power. I have super duper oily lids and even when I put on a primer it seems to transfer easily onto my crease when put on my top lash line. It starts looking like a greasy goopy mess on my lids which is NOT a good look. On my bottom lash line it tends to crease weirdly too. I have weird microscopic wrinkles and it seems to move around easily making under my eyes smudgy and look like I just cried. Keep in mind though that I have some oily a** lids and an extremely weird eye shape. Maybe these would work better for everyone else? On a side note. I don't know how I feel about the packaging.

Verdict:

Would I buy these again? Well since they were on sale I'm guessing that they're being discontinued but I think I would if they weren't. Not on sale they're around $2 which still is not bad and when they're on sale at .50 HECK YEAH I would! I'd buy a handful! They're great eyeliners for people who are just starting off with make up which is why I recommended them to my little sister who is 13 as well as being just a great fast eyeliner to use when you're on a rush. If you have oily lids like me make sure to have it handy around with you as well as a tissue to do some clean ups and touch ups throughout the day.
