Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish - Boho Gold

Just going to be doing a simple swatch spam of the Maybelline Color Show LE 2012 Nail Polish in Boho Gold, the famous "dupe" of Chanel Peridot. I've read a lot of reviews and apparently they're not the same but they're somewhat similar, both with their own beautiful touch. All of my swatches are over a black base (Essence Colour & Go Black is Back) and then 4 extremely thin coats.
Probably the most gorgeous polish (bottle wise) that I own.
Six coats (including the black) and still doesn't look thick on the nail.
This polish is going to show streaks so if you want it to look at its best, apply super thin, clean strokes.

In the two pictures you can finally start seeing some blue! Light has to hit it at the right spot though.

Can you see some pink on my middle finger showing?

I was worried I'd never find this polish since I wasn't able to find it anywhere until I went to Tops (a grocery store) but I'm so glad I did. I'm just so in love. I can't stop looking at my nails right now!

Let's Talk: Cream/Gel Liners - ELF Cream Eyeliner, jane. Be Pure Mineral Gel Eyeliner, Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner

Hey guys, today I'm just going to be doing a quick comparison of 3 gel/cream liners that have become staples in my make-up collection. The liners I will be comparing today are the ELF Cream Eyeliner, the jane. Be Pure Mineral Gel Liner, and the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner. Out of the 3, which one comes on top? Let's see.
  • Prices and weight:
- jane. Be Pure Mineral Gel Liner $4.79-$6.99 for 0.17 oz./5.0 g
-
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner $7.49 - $9.99 for 0.106 oz/3.0 g
- ELF Cream Eyeliner $3 for 0.17 oz./4.7 g (?)

One thing I have to mention is that supposedly the jane. liner and the ELF liner are the same weights, both claiming to be 0.17 oz but mentioning that in grams they are not the same. Looking at both liners, looking at every angle of each pot, I can easily say that the jane. liner DEFINITELY has more product in it, excluding the heavier glass container. Other than that, the Maybelline liner has the least amount of product in it for the highest price of the 3.

One thing to mention is that all these included a small brush, Maybelline having the biggest most versatile brush, jane. having a great quality small dense angled liner brush, and ELF having a medium TINY angled liner brush.
  • The pigmentation & texture:
L-R: ELF, Maybelline, jane.

Pigmentation:
These are all in the black color range, the Maybelline liner being "Blackest Black", ELF being "Black", and the jane. liner being "Black" as well. Funny enough, I thought the Maybelline Liner was the least black of the two. I saw that the ELF liner has a brown undertone to it, the Maybelline liner being a lighter black and the jane. liner being the purest blackest of the 3.

Unfortunately, it doesn't show in the picture of the swatches I took.

Texture:
Out of the 3, the creamiest and easiest to use product was the ELF liner, which before it dried, had a wet sheen unlike the other 2 liners. The least creamy was the jane. liner which was a tad bit dried up in the pot but previously when I first bought it, it was always a little dry in texture. Maybelline fit in the middle as far as texture.
  • Staying power:
All of these liners claim to be long lasting, and smudge proof. According to the companies, here are their claims:

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner: The liner is claimed to be an oil-free formula that holds highly concentrated pigments in a clear gel base and it is smudge-proof and waterproof for 24 hours.

My personal experience with this, this transferred onto my top lid like crazy. It just slid off once my lids got the slightest bit oily.

jane. Be Pure Mineral Gel Liner: This liner contains a unique hydrating formula loaded with minerals for a smooth long lasting water resistant coverage.

ELF Cream Eyeliner: The site claims that this is smudge-proof, budge-proof and water-resistant for all day wear to combat against sweat, tears or rain.

My personal experience with this, it came off extremely easily when I tried taking this off. I have read claims of it being difficult to take off but I just don't understand why. Maybe those with drier lids know.

Because of these claims, I decided to really test it out.

This is after rubbing extremely hard with a tissue. The Maybelline liner was the most affected whilst the jane. liner did not budge the slightest.

This was after rubbing extremely hard with hot water and dish soap. The jane. liner still holding up quite a bit, while the other 2 are basically gone.

  • Verdict: As you can most likely see, the jane. Be Pure Mineral Gel Liner held up the most, not only in value, but in it's claims which were the least of the 3. I really am glad I made a comparison of the 3 because now I know to reach for this liner more often, since it has been neglected as of recently. Hooray!
Hope you enjoyed my comparison! Tell me what you think and if you've ever tried any of these before. What were your experiences? I'd love to hear!

Maybelline Super Stay 14 Hr Lipsticks - Never Ending Nude, Ravishing Rouge, Beige Forgood Review + Lip Swatches

Hey guys! A quick apology that these pictures aren't as good as they usually are. I haven't had any luck with lighting as of lately. Meh. Anyway, today I'm going to bring you a review on the Maybelline Super Stay 10 Hr Lipsticks since I've already done a review on the Gloss Stains which you can view here. This lipstick claims to last about 14 hours on your lips but is that really the case? Let's start the review:

The colors I'll be reviewing today are Never Ending Nude, Ravishing Rouge, and Beige Forgood.

L-R: Beige Forgood, Never Ending Nude, Ravishing Rouge

One thing I have to say is that I feel like the colors on the packaging don't necessarily show what the lipstick colors actually are. It kind of bothers me. For example, when I got these, looking at the tube itself, I thought Never Ending Nude was going to be a pinky cream nude color. Actually opening the tube I realized it was extremely shimmery and glittery and blah, you'll see.

Here is what the lipsticks look without the cap on. I thought the design of the tube was actually extremely cute & I liked the way the tip of the lipstick itself was shaped. Unfortunately the shape, though aesthetically pleasing, didn't work too well with the shape of my lips. Another problem with the design is that I honestly had a really hard time taking the dang caps off of them. Then again, I have a hard time taking caps off of anything...

I have also noticed that they have a slight minty feel to them on your lips. I'm not sure why. They have a great smell to them, kind of like candy, and no particular taste that I wasn't able to tolerate.

Swatches.

L-R: Never Ending Nude, Ravishing Rouge, Beige Forgood

  • Never Ending Nude is just wow. Definitely a miss in my book. The lip swatch makes it look decent but it is extremely shimmery and frosty with huge silver glitter particles that wouldn't come off my lips no matter how hard I tried. The color itself which is a neutral light medium pink in the tube is beautiful but not as a lipstick. It's pretty sheer so be ready to pack this on and get huge bits of glitter everywhere. It felt a little scratchy on application.
  • Ravishing Rouge, when looked at in the tube before applying for the first time, looks like a regular red cream finish lipstick, it looks beautiful, it looks like it would apply rather smooth. WRONG. When I first applied this lipstick I kept seeing big glitter pieces popping up everywhere, and I was just getting even more hateful towards Never Ending Nude because of the stupid glitter on that lipstick being so hard to take off. Wiping it off and reapplying, making sure that there wasn't any left over glitter, it was happening again! Sooo I finally just looked at the lipstick itself; inside was just bits of glitter encapsulated in the cream finish outside. What? I really didn't expect that! Surprisingly, my arm swatch barely shows any glitter at all. Also, this lipstick has the transferring ability to your teeth of a champ. As in every time I moved my lips there would be a huge red stain of red on my teeth no matter how long I tried to keep this on. After a while I just got fed up and wiped it off. On another note, this lipstick is not as pigmented as I would expect, it was still pigmented but not to the extent I would have expected from a long wear lipstick.
  • Beige Forgood... what a weird name, I'd have to say. I feel like they ran out of names when it came to this one. Anyway, this lipstick I absolutely adore! It is the perfect nude for me and that says a lot since I really have never had any success with nude lips. The color is as the name states, a beige color, but on your lips it does turn a bit pink with the help of your natural lip color. Since mine are really pigmented, it turned out perfect and it didn't wash me out completely. The color is a bit sheer so you have to layer it on to get the full pigmentation. Out of the colors I own, this is the most moisturizing and I had no problem with teeth staining.
(No, that isn't drool, it's a glitter particle. T____T)

How do I feel about these?

I guess I'm kind of iffy about these. With trying these, I found 1 horrendously shimmery lipstick, 1 glittery red generic lipstick, and my perfect nude. It kind of all evens out. Would I buy more of these though? Definitely not. The staying power wasn't anything too special but I can say they last longer than NYX Round Lipsticks. They do have a decent range in colors but are a bit pricey at $8.99-10.99 USD. They have different lipstick finishes which is nice but at the same time, I wish it was somehow mentioned or shown on the tube. Once again, my verdict is 50/50.

What do you think of these? Would you try these?

Maybelline Super Stay 10 Hr Stain Gloss Review + Lip Swatches

If you read in a previous post I received these from my brother's girlfriend on Christmas and I was so excited to receive them. Here's a quick review and some lip swatches with these on. Enjoy!

These gloss stains are supposed to last up to 10 hours on your lips. My experience? Dear god, do they stain. Hahaha. With applying these, all of them were so incredibly difficult to take off. Difficult to the point where I had to scrub my lips with a toothbrush raw and I still could not get all of it off! What I love about these is that they don't slip and slide around which is great and such a pet peeve of mine when it comes to stuff that is extremely pigmented on my lips. The consistency of these vary. I'll explain that later on.

L-R: Luxurious Lilac, Blissful Brown, Cool Coral, Ruby Indulgence

Now onto the lip swatches!

The ones I like the best are Ruby Indulgence and Cool Coral. Here's why:
  • Ruby Indulgence is smooth and extremely pigmented. I had no problem applying this and it dries beautifully on my lips. It has no shimmer so it kind of looks like blood! After applying this, dab your lips with a tissue and you'll get a beautiful "just-ate-a-red-popsicle" look! This is probably the only red lip I'd ever be comfortable with!
  • Cool Coral is such a beautiful color. It is indeed a coral color with gold sparkle that gave no issues as far as streaking. It has the 2nd thinnest consistency of all 4.
  • Luxurious Lilac is my least favorite of them all. It has the thickest consistency and it's just... purple! It just did not work with my skin tone at all. The pigmentation though, is incredible. It's a bright neon purple with blue shimmer to it. It did streak quite a bit so I wouldn't suggest wearing this alone.
  • Blissful Brown was the sheerest of them all but don't get me wrong, it is still very pigmented. On my lip swatch above I packed it on as much as I could and it still sheered out a little bit. It does have some silver sparkle in it but it's not very noticeable. I wouldn't suggest wearing this by itself.
In this picture I literally just woke up and I thought to myself "Hey, let's sport a red lip shall we?" Haha. (Me with Ruby Indulgence on)

I really love these and I'll be looking into getting these in more colors. Have you seen these in stores yet? Would you try these?

New Maybelline Products?!

This was the first time that my brother's new girlfriend has spent a holiday with us and she left us highly impressed! A really sweet girl with a lot of surprises! First surprise? She's a beauty blogger too! You can see her blog Eyeshadow Government here! (She doesn't know I blog so SHHH!) The second surprise is that she gave all of us cosmetics that I haven't even seen in stores yet! How did she get them? I don't know but I am so curious.

When I opened my gift bag I was so extremely excited to see all of these!

These are what I recieved:
  • Maybelline Super Stay 10 Stain Gloss in Blissful Brown
  • Maybelline Super Stay 10 Stain Gloss in Cool Coral
  • Maybelline Super Stay 10 Stain Gloss in Luxurious Lilac
  • Maybelline Super Stay 10 Stain Gloss in Ruby Indulgence
  • Maybelline 14 Hr Super Stay Lipstick in Ravishing Rouge
  • Maybelline 14 Hr Super Stay Lipstick in Never Ending Nude
  • Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Plum Wine
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hr Cream Eyeshadow in Tenacious Teal
The only one I've seen in stores so far is the Color Tattoo eyeshadow but that only came out just so recently. Ahh, I'm starting to feel like I'm bragging but I just am so excited about all of these!

Anyway I'm so excited and happy for my brother that he's found such a great girl for him because he really seems so happy.

"Toodles!"
